Recommendations to enjoy taking care of yourself at Christmas

Christmas is coming: lunches, dinners, family, friends, nougat, excesses... Above all, the important thing is to enjoy. Keep in mind that what you do at Christmas is something specific, the key is what you do the rest of the year. That said, it is not a plan to act crazy and feel bad. That's why we want to share our favorite tips to enjoy taking care of yourself this Christmas.

1. Prioritize the order of foods: vegetables - protein - carbohydrates - sweet. Start meals by choosing some vegetables or salad. Remember foods - not products or processed. And try to always have vegetables rather than protein or carbohydrates on your plate.

2. Once you have had your fill of food, have a dessert that is also part of the Christmas celebrations. Anyway, if you have healthier sweet options, the better! Dark chocolate, fruit. We love to finish Christmas meals with pineapple or papaya since they have digestive enzymes that help us digest food.

3. You can also finish meals with an infusion of mint, fennel, anise, licorice, rooibos or chamomile, which are digestive tonics.

4. Another trick to improve digestion is to take a teaspoon of lemon and ginger or vinegar before meals to stimulate the secretion of gastric juices and digestive enzymes. They also help regulate blood sugar levels.

5. Eat calmly, chewing your food well. So much medicine is useless if you don't chew enough. Remember, digestion begins in the mouth.

6. Let's talk about alcohol. These are days when you are going to drink more than usual, so you have to control yourself a little. We recommend starting by hydrating yourself well. Try to extend it by not taking the first round. Start with water, or sparkling water with a slice of lemon and add vinegar if you forget to drink it before leaving the house. When you start with wine, try to alternate a glass of wine with a glass of water so that you feel better. If you drink a few more wines than necessary, remember in the morning that you should rehydrate and remineralize and what's better than bone broth!

7. It is essential to listen to your body. It seems very important to identify signs of hunger and satiety. Eat until you feel full and do not eat if you are not hungry. Fasting will give you digestive strength and allow you to get to the next meal faster. For example, after the Christmas meal, which usually lasts a long time, you probably won't be hungry at dinner time. Don't have dinner, or have a cup of Caldos Cooldo, you'll see how you feel great the next day!

8. Lastly, don't forget to move. Try to continue with your daily strength or Hitt exercise routines, even if it is just 15 minutes at home. And essential, go for a walk after lunch and dinner when possible to help the muscle burn the sugar we have consumed.
