Dry brushing is an ancient practice that has re-emerged in recent years as an essential ritual for skin care and overall well-being.
We love it and have incorporated it into our morning routine.
HOW TO CHOOSE A GOOD BRUSH
Before you begin, you'll need to choose the right brush. Opt for a natural bristle brush, preferably with a long handle to reach all areas of your body. Make sure the bristles are firm enough to exfoliate, but not too hard to irritate your skin.
Some of our favorites:
LACONIUM
NATURITAS
It's recommended to do this on dry skin. We do it before showering; this maximizes the exfoliating and stimulating effects of brushing and provides a feeling of vitality that prepares you for the day. If you're one of those who showers at night, it will also help release stress and toxins.
BENEFITS OF DRY BRUSHING
Why do we like it so much? We'll tell you about the main benefits of dry brushing:
- Natural exfoliation
It removes dead skin cells, promoting a smoother, brighter texture. Plus, by keeping pores clear, it prevents blemishes like blackheads and ingrown hairs.
- Stimulates blood circulation
The brushing motion activates circulation, which helps oxygenate tissues and promote a more even, healthier skin tone.
- Lymphatic drainage
Brushing stimulates the lymphatic system, facilitating the elimination of accumulated toxins from the body. This contributes to an overall feeling of well-being and can reduce inflammation.
- Reduces cellulite
Although not a miracle cure, regular brushing can improve the appearance of your skin by breaking down fatty deposits beneath the surface and improving elasticity.
DRY BRUSHING TECHNIQUES
The dry brushing technique can vary. Here's how we do it:
- We always brush toward the heart to support lymphatic flow— starting at the feet and working upward, using long, firm strokes on the extremities and gentle circular motions on more delicate areas like the abdomen and chest.
- You don't need to apply too much pressure and avoid areas with wounds, irritations, or very sensitive skin.
- Clean the brush after use.
- Take a shower and finish with cold water. When you're done, apply moisturizing oil to your still-damp skin to nourish your freshly exfoliated skin.
Like everything, consistency is key, so make this ritual part of your daily routine, whether morning or night. Dry brushing is not only a pampering for your skin, but also a way to reconnect with your body and take care of your overall well-being.
Try it and incorporate it into your self-care ritual!
A hug,
